I have done tiles for a kitchen and two bathrooms in a house on Paxos in Greece.
The kitchen tiles show just a few Greek pots dotted along the work surface, which picked up the colour of the stone floors and wooden cupboards.
For a small shower room I was inspired by the temples at Delphi and I have designed a frieze based on carvings along the tops of the temple roofs.
I watched a fisherman slowly circling the harbour in the early mornings, looking for urchins and octopus, maybe bringing one or two up in several hours. The sea was shining in the 6 am light, and he was silhouetted against it. There was a wonderful sense of timelessness and calm. From that I designed some tiles for a larger bathroom which are placed in a line around the shower. I have painted these in a deep blue but they could be painted in many other colours.
